Nurse Ministry |
| The Nurses' Aid of Antioch Baptist Church was organized by Ida Tillman in 1946 with four (4) women present. Mrs. Tillman was elected president. The group met every Tuesday either at the church or someone's home. The Nurses' Aides purchased and volunteered furniture for the Nurses' room. They were organized to help the sick and disabled in the church and to be of aid when needed in church services. Through the American Red Cross, the aids attended in-service training meetings. In 1946, Mr. Leo Orden conducted the first graduation service for the Nurses' Aide until her death and Mrs. Gwendolyn Hickey was supervisor. |
