Chicago
Great Western Freighthouse
Location:
Waterloo
East Sixth and Sycamore
|
The Waterloo
city fathers recognized the importance of railroads to the
city's growth, and did not stop until there were three railroads
coming into Waterloo: the Illinois Central, Rock Island,
and Chicago Great Western. This building handled freight
and the passenger depot was on the opposite side of the
block. Passenger trains also stopped at the Rock Island
Depot across the river. |
