Emergency
Hospital
Location:
Waterloo
Corner of Seventh and Wellington Streets
|
Waterloo's
first hospital was a two-story wood frame house that opened
under the name "Emergency Hospital" in 1901. Boasting 15
beds and the services of several local doctors, this hospital
saved residents the journey to Dubuque when hospitalization
was required. Serving the community through the typhoid
epidemic of 1902 - 1903, Emergency Hospital was replaced
in 1904 by Presbyterian Hospital. The building still stands
today as a private residence. |
