Assistance with patient rehabilitation following a heart attack, stroke, injury, or any other illness.
Monitor blood sugar, blood pressure, heart and lung conditions.
Care for ventilator-dependent patients and infants with apnea monitors.
Administer antibiotics, cancer-fighting drugs and other types of medications through intravenous and central line catheters.
Change dressings, catheters, and give special treatments.
Give instructions on medications and proper diets for all patients including diabetics.
Assist with personal cares, bathing, walking.
Light housekeeping, meal preparation.

Involved with hospital discharge planning to provide continuity of care from hospital to home.
Work directly with physicians and other providers to make referrals for additional community services.
COST OF A VNA VISITThe VNA is Medicare-certified. The VNA bills Medicare, Medicaid, and other private insurers for eligible patients. The cost of non-covered visits is determined according to a sliding fee scale based on a family's income and can be adjusted to meet individual family situations.
Services are available to everyone regardless of age, race, religion, disability, ethnic background, or socio-ecomonic status.
SERVICE AVAILABILITYVNA's intermittent nursing services are available 7 days a week on a 24hour basis. Other services may be provided on a more frequent basis with special arrangements.
SERVICE AREAThe VNA provides services primarily to residents of Black Hawk County and Bremer County, as well as to residents in adjacent counties.
